Summer Has Begun!

Our summer is off to a great start! We stay busy with trips to ImaginOn, Discovery Place, Nature Museum and the park. Cohen joined My Gym a couple of weeks ago, and is having the time of his life! The first trip there was hilarious - it was like Cohen drank five Red Bulls - he couldn't do everything fast enough. Cohen also loves spending the early evenings playing with his buddy, Finn, in the driveway.

Cohen has grown-up so much the past couple of months! He still doesn't say too much, but he has started saying "bye," "hi," "whaz-thes?" (what's this?), "yeah" and "ba" (ball). Cohen has become a whiz at the puzzles we have, and he loves to read books on our laps. One of his favorite things to do is find shoes around the house and in the closet and put them on our feet. He can be particular about his clothing - he picks out which pair of shoes he wants to wear every day, and he pretty much only wants to wear his Polo shirts. Cohen still loves music and breaks out into dance when the song moves him. He also proudly holds his pointer finger up when we ask how old he is, and he has started doing his own version of the FSU tomahawk chop. I could go on and on about Cohen's cuteness and developments (sometimes I wish I could video record him all day long to capture these memories). I am so proud to be his mom!

Memorial Day Weekend

We celebrated Memorial Day weekend with Aunt Laura and Uncle Mike at Folly Beach. We had a great time playing and relaxing. Cohen definitely took to the younger, college-aged party crowd on Folly - they loved him too! Cohen enjoyed a wagon ride to Lost Dog Cafe for breakfast every morning and ate dinner at Taco Boy and Woody's Pizza at night. Aunt Laura and Uncle Mike took him for a walk on the pier and got ice cream! We had way too much fun, and we only took FIFTEEN pictures total over the weekend. Hopefully we can post a video soon.

Wild Dunes Weekend

We packed-up the car Thursday morning for a long weekend at the Wild Dunes Resort at Isle of Palms. It was an extra special vacation because we were with our best friends, Clay, Tracy and little Sam. Cohen and Sam became fast friends, playing on the beach, sharing toys and hugs. The weather was perfect, and we played on the beach all day everyday. Cohen had the best time running around, chasing his shadow down the beach, digging in the sand, splashing in pools of water, chasing the tide, swimming in the pool and riding in the wagon. We were sad for the vacation to come to an end, but we will definitely be repeating it again next year!

Mother's Day Weekend

All I can say is that I am one lucky girl. David and Cohen made this Mother's Day weekend one to remember! We kicked things off at Big Daddy's for dinner Friday night. After Cohen's swim lesson Saturday morning, David planned a surprise "adventure" for the family. We did some strawberry pickin'! Cohen had a ball running up and down the patch picking out the strawberries. There were tractors, strawberry slushies, water games and a tent full of toys for the little ones. Cohen did not want to leave! Unfortunately, we left our camera behind, but look what we came home with!

We had a relaxing Saturday afternoon playing at home and watching the TPC.

Clay and Sam also stopped by for a visit. It was wonderful to see the boys together!

Mother's Day was absolutely perfect! I got to sleep in until 9, and I woke up to my sweet boy and husband bringing me a big cup of coffee, my book and a card. Cohen and David worked hard in the kitchen and made THREE different types of stuffed french toast - strawberry and cream cheese, peanut butter and banana and old fashioned. It was amazing! And to top it all off, David and Cohen surprised me by renting a villa at Folly Beach with Aunt Laura and Uncle Mike over Memorial Day weekend!!

It was such a fun weekend, Cohen was sad to see it end (or he was tired of taking pictures and wanted to play with his truck).

Happy Mother's Day to all the grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts and wonderful friends of mine! We love you all!

Little Man

We are keeping very busy at the Hathaway House. It truly amazes me every day how much of a little man Cohen is now. He is full of life and personality...and is all boy through and through. We spend a good chunk of the day outdoors, thanks to Cohen. He walks to the front door and will bang his head against it if we don't let him free to roam. We explore the neighborhood, dig in the dirt, discover ants, hope for trucks to pass by, listen for echos of the nearby train whistle as it passes through, love on neighborhood dogs on walks, and stare in awe as we catch glimpses of beautiful birds and bunny rabbits. Cohen loves to wave at everything in site (people, animals, trees, cars...everything). He has also started to dance. The other day, he heard his favorite song, Boom Boom Pow, and decided to say "Boom Boom Boom!" as he bounced and smiled. Cohen is still a big flirt, especially with older women. He entertained an entire high school class of girls at Discovery Place this week.

It was HOT in Charlotte this weekend, but that didn't stop Cohen from wanting to play outside. After Cohen's swim lesson on Saturday, we spent most of the afternoon at Midwood Park. This weekend was the Annual Midwood Mania, so we enjoyed visiting with neighbors and listening to live music Saturday evening. Cohen danced around and clapped after each song. Oh, and swim lesson #2 went much better! I got in the pool with Cohen, and there were only a couple of tears in the beginning, followed by lots of splashes and smiles.

Cohen gets very frustrated when we "trap" him on the front porch. He has started to throw fits when he wants to be set free to walk the neighborhood. It starts out like this...
