One is Fun!

Our Henry turned ONE yesterday, and we had fun celebrating our big boy! He had a blast playing with his friends, eating pizza and cake, and unwrapping presents. Cohen was a great helper - You would have thought it was his own birthday, he was so excited about the party. The past week, we've heard him singing "Happy Birthday to Henry" (then yelling, "YAY!" while clapping) before falling asleep in bed. Cohen helped me pick out the cupcakes and balloons for the big day, and he proudly told everyone, "It's Hendog's birthday!"

The past year has flown by. It seems like yesterday we were in the hospital preparing for Henry's arrival. At 7:14 pm on September 4th, our family was complete when Henry came into this world. He was the biggest baby at the hospital the weekend he was born - it still amazes me that I had such a big boy! Our sweet Hendog has had quite a year. We have a lot to be thankful for and celebrate. Less than six months ago, our boy was recovering from heart surgery. He is the toughest little guy I know. The past year has been amazing, watching Henry grow and change each month, and watching the special bond form between brothers. Part of me is so excited about turning the page onto this new chapter of life with our one year old. But part of me is in pieces because he is growing-up...both of our boys. Henry, we love everything about you! I love:
  • that you're my "little bird," as you flap your arms really fast when you get excited (which is very often).
  • your tight-grinned smile, and the way you throw your head back when you get really happy.
  • the way you dance to music, bouncing up and down.
  • the way you clap your hands and wave bye-bye.
  • your teeth! I love staring at that sweet smile of yours.
  • the way you squeal and get so excited playing with your big brother.
  • your sweet heart.
Henry, we love you to the moon and back!

Henry likes to be proper when he eats in the highchair. No matter what, he always crosses his feet.

Cupcake #2 for Cohen. His hands are still blue from the icing.

It's hard to look so good while turning one. Henry had had enough attention by this point.

Hendog was worn out by the end of the party. It was a fantastic first birthday!
